Emily, born in Lyon in 1985, began her musical journey at the age of 6 with the piano, later exploring the saxophone and joining an amateur big band to delve into jazz. Influenced by her father's jazz vocal recordings, her passion for singing was ignited. She honed her skills within the big band and at the Vienne Conservatory in France before dedicating herself entirely to music, leaving her architecture degree to study at the ENM in Villeurbanne under renowned mentors. She had the opportunity to participate in masterclasses with Michèle Hendricks and Roger Letson at the Crest festival. In 2009, she broadened her horizons by studying with vocalist David Linx at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. During her Erasmus year in 2012, she benefited from masterclasses with international jazz musicians at the CNSM in Paris. Emily co-founded the Lift quintet with Thomas Mayade, releasing their debut album "1st Floor" in 2014. Her project "Songs of Old" explores British poems from the 18th century to the present day, with contemporary pop and jazz influences. She obtained her master's degree from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in June 2014. Since then, she has directed the "Sing Out Brussels!" choir and has been part of the Parisian vocal sextet "EXEKO". In 2022, she launched a new project, "Treehouse Days," in a duo with bassist Boris Schmidt. Emily won the XL competition in 2010 and received the 2nd prize in the Crest Jazz Vocal competition in 2012. Her career reflects her passionate commitment to music and her constant exploration of new artistic horizons.
