BIO

François Vaiana

François Vaiana, a baritone singer based in Brussels, Belgium, leads several musical ensembles on the Brussels scene. His latest solo project, nino_uncut, showcases his talents as a vocalist, lyricist, composer, and beat maker. His EP "Pills and Water" is available under this pseudonym. Within the Brussels Vocal Project, François collaborates with renowned artists such as John Hollenbeck, Fabrizio Cassol, the Brussels Jazz Orchestra, and Alain Platel, exploring the infinite possibilities of vocal ensembles. Blue Monday People, his Jazz-Rock band, has toured in Belgium and abroad. François also participates as a guest singer in projects by his peers like Ine Claes, Yves Peeters, Pierre Vaiana, Fabrice Alleman, and Todor Todorov. He is recognized for his songwriting talents, having written for various artists. As an experienced teacher, François teaches voice at the Cours Florent in Brussels and has been teaching since 2006 in Belgium and abroad. He earned a master's degree with great distinction from the Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussels, after studying in New York and at the Jazz Studio in Antwerp. François is also actively involved in societal projects, co-founding the HIVisible Belgium collective, which aims to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS. He organized the first Belgian festival of performances related to HIV/AIDS in collaboration with the Antwerp's Queer Arts Festival. Additionally, he holds the position of artistic coordinator at each edition of the Zinneke Parade.
