Guro Tveitnes is a Norwegian singer, musician, and composer based in Brussels. A graduate of the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, she explores the boundaries of vocal expression through performance and composition. As a founding member of the experimental vocal ensemble IKI, she won a Danish Music Award in 2011 and received two additional nominations in 2018 for their album Oracle. Known for its radical approach to vocal improvisation, IKI has been at the forefront of the Nordic vocal scene since its founding in 2009. The ensemble is currently working on its fifth full-length album, Body. Tveitnes frequently works across performance disciplines. She is currently performing in Hotel Pro Forma’s final production, Flammenwerfer, which has received rave reviews, most recently at the Royal Danish Theatre. In addition to performing, she co-arranged the music for the play.Her artistic practice challenges conventional perceptions of the voice. By processing her vocals through effect pedals, she creates a sound that hovers between the organic and the mechanical. She is currently working on her debut solo album, WoManHood.
