Jonas Cole

Jonas Cole, born in 1985 in Sint-Niklaas, is a pop and jazz tenor living in Gent, Belgium. He worked as a lead singer, backing vocalist and arranger in many different pop, jazz and folk projects with his love for polyphonic singing as a common thread. Some of these projects are: Brussels Vocal Project, contemporary vocal jazz (albums: Art of love, Méditation et Musique), De Gevleugelden, melodic songs for 3 voices and guitar, for which he wrote and arranged all the music (album: Het was een eer), Surpluz, traditional Flemish folk tunes reinterpreted (album: Dat is zingen moet). Jonas obtained his master degree in pop and jazz singing at the conservatory of Ghent in 2011. In order to continue to develop as a singer, vocal coach and performer, he kept on studying in the years that followed at various international schools, including Lichtenberger voice method (Lichtenbeger Institut, Germany / Ingrid Voermans); Cellular Transformation (Jennifer Millar); The intensive (teacher) training at the ‘Complete Vocal Institute’ of Cathrine Sadolin (Copenhagen, Denmark) ; the renowned Meisner acting training at the ‘Meisner Acteerstudio’ (’s Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands); the ‘SoulVoice Practitioner Program’ of Karina Schelde ; he also attended many workshops on movement, dance, breathing and awareness. As a teacher, Jonas currently teaches pop and jazz singing at MUDA kunstsecundair (the art secondary school for music and dance in Gent). In the past he also taught at the Royal conservatory of Brussels and the academy’s of Gent, Hoboken, Merksem and Sint-Niklaas. He’s also the founder and conductor of the the Ghent feel good choir KARAVANA.
