Leander Moens


Leander Moens (born in 1992, Dendermonde) got into music at the age of 6 through his father who’s a big music enthusiast/choral director and singer. He joined a children’s choir together with his sisters and so the journey began. Choirs and vocal ensembles will stay a very big interest through different musical projects. At age 8 Leander starts playing the bassoon at the Musical of Dendermonde and joins different choirs and orchestra’s throughout the following years (Similare, Fine-Tuned, Fine Fleur, Dendermonds Symfonisch Orkest). He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Event- and Projectmanagement at Arteveldehogeschool, Ghent. In 2013 he starts studying Jazz Vocals with David Linx at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. He finished his Master’s degree in music in 2018 and his teacher’s degree in 2020. Leander is based in Brussels and sings in different musical projects. With O!Boy he focuses mainly on barbershop music and got the opportunity to study in Westonbirt with Stephen Connolly (King’s Singers) and got a scholarship to get coached in Nashville, Tennessee (Harmony University) which led to a Golden Medal at Holland Harmony Compebbon. O!Boy also created two theatre shows with ‘L’isolat’: ‘Les Rossignols De L’ouest’ (Prix de l'Enseignement Fondamental) and ‘Le Froissement Du Brouillard’ with music by Stéphane Orlando. With KOOR, a vocal jazz quartet, Leander discovers the world of Vocal Jazz groups. Since 2019 he regularly performs with Brussels Vocal Project. Leander also teaches at SAMWD Dendermonde and Ma’Go Antwerpen and gives workshops about acapella singing/close harmony. (Wisper/Koor&Stem)
