After making her professional debut as a corps de ballet at the Royal Ballet of Flanders in Antwerp, Sarah Klenes (1983) studied jazz singing at the conservatories of Leuven (with a.o. Natacha Roth, Bart Van Caenegem, Pierre Van Dormael), in Brussels (with a.o. David Linx, Kris Defoort) and in Paris (with a.o. Dré Pallemaerts, Riccardo Del Fra). Since 2005, she has taken part in a wide range of projects, from jazz to folk/pop (in a trio with Gabor Gado & Laurent Blondiau, OakTree with cellist Annemie Osborne and accordionist Thibault Dille, HowTown Lennart Heyndels's Belgian-Latvian quintet); to contemporary jazz with the Brussels Vocal Project(Modern Tales), to street art in Les Superluettes (with Géraldine Cozier). She evolves at the confluence of singing, dance and performance in projects combining writing and improvisation, with a.o The Sea Within (contemporary dance by Lisbeth Gruwez-Voetvolk), M•Ondes by choreographer Marielle Morales, the performance series ECOUTE, ...ENTRE..., La Traversée des sons with e.a. poet Catherine Barsics.
In parallel, she is developing a pedagogy combining voice and movement and accompanies singers, actors and dancers in creative processes and advanced training. She’s continuing training courses in rhythm (Michel Debrulle, Arnould Massart), Taketina (Tania Bosac, Baptiste Vaes), music with Fabrizio Cassol, dance with Marielle Morales, Body Mind Centering (Satu Palonga, Laurence Chevallier), Feldenkrais voice-method (Catherine Delasalle). Sarah is a freely eclectic artist who loves improvisation and encounters. Her approach is nourished by her passion for movement in space and sound, in the field of e-motions.
