Brussels Vocal Project is a collective of singers who create original vocal music. They aim to exploring the possibilities of the human voice through collaborations with different singers, instrumentalists and composers.
The group was founded in 2009 by singers from the Conservatory of Brussels. They created a vocal collective inspired by the city’s vibrant artistic scene. Throughout the years, Brussels Vocal Project has been pushing boundaries, gradually establishing themselves as a unique group with a high-quality production.
Their body of work consists of both personal projects and engaging in collaborative guest creations.
They recently released « Modern Tales » composed by the American drummer John Hollenbeck. This non-conforming album is a collection of revisited popular tales arranged for voices and drums.
Brussels Vocal Project have performed their repertoire in many local and international concert halls and venues. They have also been called on numerous occasions to collaborate with artists such as David Linx, Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Fabrizio Cassol, Alain Platel, Wildbirds and Peacedrums, and for different major events like the Magritte awards for cinema.
I listened to Modern Tales for the third time yesterday. It’s a fascinating project. The singers are amazing - skilled, precise and imaginative.
